Reading Program

Reading has endless benefits for a curios mind but requires discipline that only few are willing to practice. SCA wants to encourage curious minds for further exploration and to reward those who have the discipline to read by allowing students to earn up to 3% extra credit in all subjects. To take advantage of this opportunity, carefully read requirements below, choose a book from the Recommended Reading List or public library, write a summary, and watch your grade jump 3%!

Book Requirements:

Bible-Christian Literature

Language Arts-Classical Literature

History-Historical Fiction or Biography

Science-Science Fiction or Biography of a Scientist

Math-Biography of a Mathematician

Minimum number of pages:

3rd-6th grade - 50 pages

7th-8th - 150 pages

9th-12th - 250 pages

Note. One book in each semester and subject can be used to earn extra credit

Essay Summary Requirements:

3rd-6th - 150 words

7th-8th - 350 words

9th-12th - 500 words
